The Turn of the Screw (from Glyndebourne ) Benjamin Britten's chilling opera The Turn of the Screw, directed by Jonathan Kent.
The performance was streamed live from Glyndebourne on 21 August and is available until 12 September.
Act I → Introduces the haunting tale of a Governess sent to instruct a boy and a girl in the country long ago, 'a curious story, written in faded ink'. Upon arriving, the Governess feels at home – until she sees a mysterious figure on the tower and things take a sinister turn.
Act II → Following the spectral return of Miss Jessel and Peter Quint, Act II sees the Governess 'lost in a labyrinth' as she struggles to comprehend what is happening. Strange events unfold as the tale moves towards its tragic ending.
